In the past week, we’ve been getting messages of concern, uncertainty, and justifiable fear from our customers. The future holds a lot of unknowns. Health, jobs, finances — even all the way down to getting toilet paper and hand sanitizer — are issues that we’re each having to face.
We’re waking up to a new reality and have to move forward with personal courage.
What’s Changed Because of Coronavirus?
We’re all fitness professionals, and for the longest time, our entire industry has been defined by in-person, close quarters contact. With the coronavirus pandemic, this means that, for now, the old way of doing things has to take a backseat.
But that doesn’t mean it has to stop you. It means that we must adapt to the new reality. And if there’s one thing that fitness professionals are great at doing, it’s adapting!
At the moment, we’re fighting vigorously to flatten the curve in terms of coronavirus infections. This is why social distancing is so essential. If too many people catch this disease, it will overwhelm our healthcare infrastructure, leading to additional deaths and continued economic calamity.
With personal training historically being an in-person job, sometimes it can be tough to see beyond this. But don’t be afraid — be cautious. There is a way forward.
How We Can Adapt
With in-person training being out for most people, the next option comes to online personal training. This can easily be done with technology that you likely use all the time, like FaceTime, Skype, and other such video chat services.
To this end, we’ve put together a free course on how to make online personal training a reality for you. If you don’t currently operate an online personal training option, it’s really important that you start now.
That course gives you the nuts and bolts of “how,” but there’s still the issue of finding additional clients to train online and facilitate sessions like a gym would. Fortunately, one of our amazing partners, COACHD, has you all covered!
It Takes a Village
We all need to support one another, and COACHD is a great example of how to really support a community.
COACHD is an all-online platform for certified personal trainers to train and communicate with clients. And because of the coronavirus pandemic, they are generously offering their platform for FREE during this time.
I can’t emphasize enough how big of a deal this is for everyone. With our instructions and COACHD’s platform, you can put together an online way to earn income without spending a penny.
Take Care of Yourself
Being at your best is hard under normal circumstances. It’s especially important right now that you remember self care. Keeping your immune system up and your stress down can help drastically in this endeavor.
To this end, I’ve partnered with The Meditation Doctor, Dr. Jill Wener, on a few ways to boost your immune system and deal with stress. We put this video together just for you and we hope that you find it helpful!
