Learning Objectives

  1. Learn and understand the benefits of coaching within the personal training session.

  2. Apply coaching principles, tools and techniques throughout the duration of the trainer/client relationship.

  3. Differentiate and leverage the skills to use professional expertise (you as personal trainer) vs coaching skills (you as a fitness coach) for optimization of performance.

  4. Incorporate the tools and processes of professional coaching to enhance the client experience and the related results of improved retention and referrals.

  5. Develop coaching language to build a safer, trusting, and non-judgmental environment.

  6. Synthesize the client’s desires and needs for postural improvement, movement, strength, flexibility and overall health and wellness using the coaching practices.

The purpose of this class is to introduce coaching skills that when practiced will support an exceptional client/trainer experience. The goal of the class is to move a knowledgeable and skilled personal trainer to a higher level of competence, confidence, and connection to their clients.

Optimally, participants who embrace the course exercises will find the value in fitness coaching, as an advanced skill to create a profitable and successful business. This may mean a richer experience for you and your client; it may include a more positive branding of your business; it may include increased demand in your services and allow for selective client acceptance. Of course, for many, this will support the business goal of greater financial rewards.
